Rescued Horses

  • Here are some of our success stories and some recent rescues.  The before and after pictures show how the horses came to us initially and how well they are doing today.

  • Getting the horses back to a healthy state, mentally and physically can take months and even years.  Once achieved, maintaining their health is critical and must continue throughout the rest of their lives.

  • We want to rescue more horses, but we need your help.  The economy is very poor, and we are CONTACTED DAILY regarding horses that need our help.  Please help us to help them.

  • If you would like to donate your time, money, or sponsor a horse, contact us today.  The horses would love you for it AND we could SAVE MORE LIVES!

      Spice, right off the trailer.

Spice was an owner surrender.  He had been abused in the past and had three owners in two years.  He's a very sharp looking horse and extremely friendly; he LOVES to help!  He will be 3 the end of March and is 14.2 hands.

  • Dante, 13 y/o Purebred Arabian Gelding

      Dante on his first day.

Dante came to us from Texas.  A wonderful caring person took him out of an abusive situation.  She sent him from Texas to us so he'd have a great future among people who understand and appreciate Arabians.

He is trained in dressage and is a very elegant looking horse.  Nice long legs and pretty lines.   He is 13 years old, 15.1 hands, and around 1100 pounds.

      Fortune after 1 month.

Fortune is a 12-y/o Arabian mare.  Her owner could no longer care for her.  She's now healthy and happy and under saddle.

See the adoption page for more info.

Her adoption fee is $950 (to increase with training).

  • Story, Purebred Arabian gelding

    • Story after 2 weeks

      After 2 weeks

We rescued Story, an 18-y/o Arabian gelding, in Central Ohio in July of '09.  Our vet said he had not seen a horse this emaciated in his 45 years of practice and if we had not rescued him when we did, he would not have made it much longer. He had a 1.5-inch gash in his cheek where a tooth would catch, which made it almost impossible for him to eat properly.

Two owners ago, he was left tied in a dark standing stall without food or water; waiting for his time.

Story is up to his proper weight, healthy, and under saddle.

For more infomation see the adoption page.

  • Adiya, Purebred Arabian mare  "Adiyat Evita"  PERMANENT RESIDENT

    • Before

    • After

      After

We rescued Adiya from Southern Ohio.  She was severely underweight and the owner thought she had Addison's Disease.  It turns out she was just lacking dental and medical attention and was competing for food in a very tiny lot with too many horses.  She had been through at least six owners in five years and sold at two auctions. Her spirit was barely intact.  She still hasn't let her guard down 100%, but she has come a long way.

She and we are so glad we found her.

  • Falco-Our Resident Non-Arabian Mountain Horse Cross

    • Falco-Before

      Before

    • After

The before picture shows Falco when we first rescued him. He came from the Sugarcreek auction destined for slaughter.  He had wounds all over his body, he was severely malnourished, and his spirit was broken.  The after picture shows Falco now, healthy and happy.

Falco is everyones favorite trusted steed.

IN THE FIRST WEEK, OVER $300 HAS TO BE SPENT ON VET/VACCINATIONS, DENTAL, AND HOOVES FOR A SOUND AND HEALTHY HORSE.  THAT GOES UP IF THE HORSE IS SICK/LAME/WOUNDED.

THAT IS TOUGH, AS IT COMES FROM OUR OWN INCOME

We receive NO govt. assistance.

WE SIMPLY CAN NOT AFFORD TO RESCUE WITHOUT YOUR HELP.
