Update - Oak Harbor Horses

As of today ALL of the horses are in foster homes due to the efforts of the ARM and being monitored closely. Our biggest challenge right now is ensuring that all of the foster homes are properly outfitted for these specific horses as surprisingly, most of these horses were sent WITHOUT the blankets, halters, feed, and hay etc. that had been donated to them while under the care of the HS. Many of the blankets were old, very worn, and/or ill fitting, so regardless, these horses will ALL need blankets, as well as assistance with feed, supplements, and veterinary care.

The horses have lacked veterinary attention for literally YEARS, so on top of the standard rescue procedures of farrier, basic vet/vaccines, and dental, these horses need bloodwork (they potentially have bloodworms, on top of other things), and lots of special care that is far beyond the capacity of just these volunteers to take on.

We are asking for help from the horse community for these horses - we are talking OVER THIRTY horses that were neglected and malnourished, many without any handling, and worse. Literally thousands in vet bills and special needs and everything helps.

Spice is an almost 3 y/o flashy Half Arabian gelding. He's been abused in the past, but he's very intelligent, willing, and literally an "in your pocket" horse. He's 14.2 hands. He hasn't been started under saddle yet, but he's going to make someone a wonderful mount & partner. He's a beautiful mover too.

Despite 40-degree temps and rain, our fundraiser bake sale/meet and greet event this past Saturday was a success. We met many great people and educated many more about horses, their care, why rescues are needed, and why we need their help.
